Capital Invest applies a consistent set of criteria to the opportunities it considers. Selectivity means distinguishing the ability to commit capital from a reasoned case for doing so.
A clear position early
Preliminary review establishes whether an opportunity merits further consideration. The purpose is to reach a clear position, before committing further resources to assessment.
The ability to invest does not create a reason to invest. Declining is a normal part of selective investment.
Depth before commitment
An opportunity that progresses is subject to financial, legal and commercial due diligence. The work is scoped to the nature and size of the proposed investment and conducted with the company's advisers.
This moves the discussion from an initial proposition to a more developed understanding of the business or asset, the proposed terms and the considerations relevant to a capital commitment.
Judgement remains with the company
Review informs a decision; it does not replace one. Capital Invest takes its own investment decisions and acts as principal when capital is deployed.
